Horse & Hare are Virginia based artists/printmakers Kerry and Neil Stavely.
Starting with a small linocut print of Kurt Vonnegut, Horse & Hare began in 2008 with an Etsy shop and dream. Neil began the adventure into printmaking as way to have something easy to pick up and put down when the couples' daughter was a toddler. Kerry later followed suit, falling in love with the medium as well. Many years later their portfolio has expanded to hundreds of prints, original mixed media fine-art, cards, journals, t-shirts, buttons, patches, and custom design work. Their work can now be seen in museum shops, gift boutiques, galleries, and private collections around the US and beyond.
Block prints are created by first drawing the image either directly or transferred on a wood or linoleum block. The image is then carved and printed by using one of two methods - hand burnishing or printing with a press. Horse & Hare print by hand or with one of their handy dandy presses - a 1909 Chandler & Price Old Style and a Graves Etching Press.
Horse & Hare explore a variety of subjects on an ongoing basis - Animals, Portraits of Authors, Activists and other Notable People, Tarot & Occult, Pop Culture and more.
